We’re thrilled to invite you to PRECIOUS Nights, featuring a conversation with bestselling author Dorothy Koomson. Dorothys’s books have been out in the world for 20 years and we are excited to play a part in marking this landmark.

PRECIOUS Nights is a series of monthly events that celebrates the achievements of women of colour in the UK. Through insightful conversations, these events offer an opportunity to learn from inspiring role models and engage with a supportive community of like-minded individuals.

Dorothy is a critically acclaimed author whose novels, include”My Best Friend’s Girl,” “The Ice Cream Girls,” and “Tell Me Your Secret,”

She has won multiple awards for her writing and her books have been translated into over 30 languages and have sold millions of copies worldwide.

In this event, Dorothy will talk about her writing process, the business of writing, her inspirations and the challenges and joys of being a writer.

More about Dorothy

Known as the ‘Queen of the Big Reveal’. Dorothy Koomson is an award-winning, global bestselling author of 18 novels.

Her emotional thrillers have connected with readers all over the world; her books are regularly Sunday Times bestsellers, have sold over 2.5 million copies in the UK alone and have been translated into more than 30 languages.

Dorothy featured on the 2021 Powerlist as one of the most influential Black people in Britain, appeared in GQ Style as a Black British trailblazer, and was a judge for the 2022 Women’s Prize for Fiction.

She passionately believes that everyone should have the opportunity to tell their story and regularly mentors aspiring authors, uses her platform to support new writers and demystifies the world of publishing in ‘The Happy Author’ podcast.

As an advocate for the importance of literacy, Dorothy is a regular speaker in libraries and supports the work of Little Green Pig, a Brighton and Hove based charity that offers free writing workshops for young people in need.

2023 marks Dorothy’s 20th anniversary as a published author. A special anniversary edition of her debut novel, The Cupid Effect, will be published by Headline in July 2023. Her latest novel, My Other Husband, is out now in paperback.

Foluke is a journalist by training and the founder of PRECIOUS, the leading online network and resource for women of colour.

Foluke launched The PRECIOUS Awards in 1997′ a unique annual awards event endorsed that celebrates the achievements of women of colour across a range of industries.
