It’s time to rise up – and that means your prices too! | Janet Mohapi-Banks

How many times have you pitched an offer for your products and services and noticed that it is well below that of your competitors?

As I was speaking with the amazing women that attended the June edition of PRECIOUS Nights, it seemed very clear that a lot of Black women were under charging for and therefore under valuing what they are bringing to the world.

So what drives this behaviour?

For the last 500 years or so, Black people have been told that we are worth less than our White counterparts so is it any wonder that we see ourselves as less?

But we are not less and we need to stop acting as if we are.

We are strong, we are gifted and we are talented individuals who deserve to take our place at the top of industry and living a wonderful life of luxury.

If we price our services and products too low, we will never give ourselves the opportunity to live that luxurious life because there won’t be enough hours in the day to both make the money and to enjoy it.

We will find ourselves working too hard for too little and we will burn out.

Therefore, it’s important that we create the business we want around the life that we wish to live.

We need to value ourselves and our time highly whilst also delivering exceptional products and services to our ideal clients.

When pricing your products and services, ask yourself whether the price you are charging is a true and fair energetic exchange.  Will you feel amazing getting that amount of money and will your client feel amazing receiving your services in return?

To charge top dollar you need to KNOW that you are worthy of charging that amount.  And rest assured, just by virtue of being alive, you are worthy of everything that you desire.  If you want something it’s because it’s already yours in the quantum field so you can never ask for too much.

There will always be people who charge more and people who charge less for providing the same or similar services as you. Judging your pricing based upon somebody else money story is a recipe for discontentment so you need to develop your own set of money beliefs that work for You.

Here is a simple 3 step process that will do this.

The first step to creating your new money story is to understand the stories that are currently driving your pricing.

  • What were your first experiences of money?
  • Did you grow up to believe that having money wasn’t something that ‘people like you had’?
  • Were you taught that money isn’t important?
  • Or maybe you were taught that the pursuit of money was somehow wrong.

All of these beliefs are working against you having money now. When our subconscious programming is working against our conscious desires, the subconscious will always win.

Once you have an awareness of the money stories that you’ve been living with, ask yourself whether these stories are true for everybody.

  • Is it really true that there aren’t any “good” wealthy people?
  • What about the number of incredible philanthropists, would you consider them to be “good” people?
  • Is it really true that money isn’t important?
  • How important is money when it comes to paying for housing and food?
  • Can you think of any Black women that have high net worth? If they can do it, why can’t you?

When you’ve disproven the beliefs that you’ve grown up with, you can now create new thoughts and beliefs that serve your desire for wealth and the impact that you can have in the world by having that wealth.

So thirdly, devise new thoughts and beliefs that foster an excellent relationship with money.

Imagine that Money is your dream lover, how would you approach money then?

Would you want your dream lover to feel unimportant?

Would you feel guilty or ashamed for having them in your life? Or would you celebrate and appreciate them?

Money isn’t good or evil, money is energy like everything else and it’s “goodness” is determined by how you choose to use it. When you can see that Money is a wonderful resource and that you are wonderful too, You and Money become a match made in heaven!

  • Create declarations of how worthy and deserving you are of having money.
  • Create declarations on why your services and products are worth the amount you’re charging.
  • Create declarations of how you will use the money you receive.

Like all things in the Universe, money loves a purpose and money loves to flow.

Having an excellent relationship with Money will prevent your subconscious from repelling money that you would otherwise attract.

And for an ambitious business women, that’s a really important skill to have.

So in summary, to rewrite your Money Mindset

Step 1:  Look into your beliefs around money.

Step 2:  Disprove those beliefs.

Step 3:  Choose different thoughts that create a loving relationship between you and money.

Best of luck!
