Women of colour owned hair and beauty brands set for recognition

Women of colour have long been underrepresented in the hair and beauty industry.  Whether through a lack of recognition for women who have launched products and services or the lack of availability of products to suit our skin tones.

The industry is now witnessing a revolution, where scores of women of colour are launching products and services to cater to their community and beyond.

It was this that inspired the launch of the inaugural PRECIOUS Hair and Beauty Awards powered by PREMAE.  The awards aim to provide a platform for women of colour who have launched hair and beauty products and services, often from their kitchen tables or tablets.

The awards focus on five categories:  Best Haircare Brand, Best Makeup Colour Cosmetics Brand, Best Skincare (Face and/or body brand),  Innovation and the Beauty/Hair Blogger of the Year Award.

The initiative is the result of collaboration between the PRECIOUS Awards, which celebrates women of colour in business and leadership and Dr Clare Anyiam-Osigwe BEM, founder of the multiple award-winning beauty brand PREMAE and the PRECIOUS Entrepreneur of the Year 2012.
