Winners announced at PRECIOUS Lifestyle Awards 2019
Held at Google’s headquarters in Central London, the 2019 Precious Lifestyle Awards saw some of the most creative British women of colour awarded for their enterprise.
The diverse range of finalists included a mum and daughter duo that founded a premium vegan beauty brand, a podcast aimed at busy women in their late 30’s and 40’s that want to create space for everyday joy and a platform set up to showcase the ease and beauty of plant-based traditional/contemporary Nigerian food. Each one reflecting excellence from across the creative sectors from hair and beauty, literature and podcast to fitness and innovation.
Hosted by columnist and blogger Lisa Bent, the event began with a keynote from Joycelyn Mate, co-founder of natural hair care brand Afrochenix. She spoke candidly about her journey of growing her side hustle to a business that became the first black hair product to launch in Whole Foods UK, to recently attracting over £400,000 worth of funding.

Precious Lifestyle Awards founder, Foluke Akinlose MBE commented:
“Huge congratulations to all our winners. I am once again blown away by the creativity, talent, and determination that exists among British women of colour.”
Women of colour are some of the most creative individuals in the world yet so often their stories, brands and products are overlooked. It’s an honour to champion these achievements and share these wonderfully rich, success stories. I encourage everyone to support the growth of these award-winning brands and services – buy from them. ”
