Office design tips to help your productivity

Where you work has a huge impact on how you are able to work. It affects how much you are able to focus and even how happy you are at times.  Read on for some tips to help yout get the best result out of your workplace productivity.

Lighting

Lighting really is one of the most important factors when it comes to staying focused. If you want to try and make sure that your lighting is perfect then you need to make sure that it isn’t too dark or too light. If your lighting is too dark then you may find that you experience things such as eyestrain, headaches, fatigue and general irritability. Dark spaces can actually cause you to experience depression too, so keep that in mind. If you work in a company office then you probably don’t have any control over your general lighting, so bring your own if you can. Small lamps can easily brighten your space and you would be surprised at how much it could help you when you need to get your head down. Your Chair and Table

If you have ever sat down at a desk to work but then found yourself adjusting, stretching and just moving far too often, then you will know how important it is for you to have a nice desk and table to sit at. IThere are so many options available and it’s now super easy for you to find something that fits your body properly.

If you want to make sure that you are getting the best result out of your table and chair, then make sure that your eyes are at least 24” away from the computer screen and that the top of the monitor is in fact at eye-level. Your feet should either be resting on the floor or they should be on a footrest.

Clutter

Clutter may help you to be creative sometimes, but at the end of the day, it isn’t good for your focus or your productivity. If you work from a company office then you may not be able to control how clean your office is, but if you spend 10 minutes every morning making sure that your own desk is filed and organised then you won’t be distracted by it. If you work from home, then your entire house has the potential to distract you so spend 10 minutes at the start and end of each day to clear your workspace so you can focus on your work.

Room Colour

Colour has a large impact on your mood and your overall brain function. It will evoke an emotional response and a physical one. Choosing the right colours for your space will really affect your productivity. That being said, too much of a good thing can work against you as well. If you work from a company office, then it’s helpful to bring in items from your home that are a certain colour or ones that inspire you to stay focused. If you work from home then you will have a lot of control over the colours that are around you. Consider painting the wall, adding some colour to your table or even hang some pictures that are dominated by a specific colour. Need some inspiration? Look up other offices in your local area to see what they have as their colour scheme.

Temperature

Most business offices tend to be pretty warm because warm rooms can often make people much more productive. If you run your own company or if you work from home then you’ll be able to set the temperature that you want and you won’t have to worry about being too hot or too cold. If you work for someone else however then it’s helpful to bring a desk fan or even a sweater with you to work so you can be comfortable whenever you arrive in the office.
