PRECIOUS Nights at the British Library | September Edition

Come and join us for the September edition of our monthly PRECIOUS Nights at the British Library networking event for women of colour in business.

PRECIOUS Nights are a golden opportunity to hear previous PRECIOUS Awards winners share insights about their business journey, give tips and be a source of inspiration. The evening is also a great opportunity to catch up with old connections and build your network with new contacts. Book here

Over the years, the annual Awards have grown into a flagship event characterised by open and generous sharing of stories, strategies, challenges and experiences: a room full of exceptional women in business all ‘paying it forward’ and creating a unique atmosphere of collaboration and motivation.

Now, we’ve decided that once a year isn’t enough and so we’re thrilled to share this series of networking events that capture the PRECIOUS Awards spirit all year round.

Meet our fabulous September panel:

Claudine Adeyemi

Claudine Adeyemi is a multi-award winning lawyer and social entrepreneur.

She is the founder of The Student Development Co, a non-profit organisation providing career-related support to young people from less privileged backgrounds. In 2016 Claudine went on to launch a mobile app called Career Ear, the UK’s first Q&A careers advice platform enabling young people to ask career-related questions to professionals.
She is an Associate who specialises in Real Estate Litigation at law firm Mishcon de Reya.
In May 2018, Claudine was listed as the EMpower #1 Future Leader as presented by The Financial Times.

Claudine won the PRECIOUS Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2015.

Candice Brathwaite

Candice Brathwaite is a writer, presenter and founder of online initiative Make Motherhood Diverse.

With a background in marketing (she previously worked in the marketing department at Penguin Books), Candice soon grasped the power and potential that Instagram had to offer. She began to share her family life on the platform – her partner Bodé (Papa B), daughter Esmé-Olivia and baby son RJ – keen to show that young black families weren’t just surviving but thriving.

Candice’s straight-talking and original content has really struck a chord with fans and brands alike. She has worked on multiple campaigns (Pampers, Ella’s Kitchen, Specsavers to name just a few), and appeared on countless panels, including a debate at the Hay-on-Wye Literary Festival about modern motherhood.

She is currently working on her first book.

Candice won Social Media Influencer of the year at the 2018 PRECIOUS Lifestyle Awards.

Charlene Lavile

Charlene Laville is the Founder and Creative Director of NIZZ Cosmetics, a vegetarian lipstick brand. Charlene’s varied background in science, digital media and ecommerce provided the perfect foundation for NIZZ Cosmetics.

As a self-taught cosmetic entrepreneur, Charlene develops natural, organic and halal products. Passionate about her brand and its possibilities NIZZ empower women to explore the healthy beauty option tailored to their lifestyle and beliefs. With product media coverage featured in publications such as Look Magazine, Huffing Post, InStyle, Cosmopolitan, NOW!, Healthy & Fitness, OK! and Daily Mail.

No stranger to health industry, Charlene has spent 6 years as a qualified nurse, where she gained experience on, holistic living, well-being and dermatology.

Charlene won the Creative Business of the Year at the 11th Annual PRECIOUS Awards.
